10 Commandments Hike February 9, 2019


The 100th Anniversary Hike allows Scouts to visit various churches in Galveston and walk along the way. Along the path you will get to see some of the grand old churches of Galveston Island. The hike will be approximately 4 miles round trip. Once the Scouts visit the last church they will need to go back the SAME WAY they came.  Please do not deviate from the mapped route.

TIME: There are 9 start times. Choose the start time that is best for you. There is a 30-person maximum for each time period.

LOCATION: Hike will start at Saints Constantine and Helen Church, 4109 Avenue L, Galveston, TX 77550.

  1. Saints Constantine and Helen Church

2.Grace Episcopal Church, 1115 36th St, Galveston, TX 77550

3.First Baptist Church, 822 23rd St, Galveston, TX 77550

4.First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2415 Winnie St, Galveston, TX 77550

5.Congregation Beth Jacob, 2401 Avenue K, Galveston, TX 77550  (Please note: You will walk by the synagogue during the tour, but please make sure this is your last stop.)
(Schedule update: Congregation Beth Jacobs is not available until 12:30 p.m.)

COST: $2 each. You will receive the “rocker” event patch at a later date.

Cancellation Policy
Refunds will only be granted and paid to the original paying customer - the unit or individual. Refunds will only be considered under certain circumstances (sickness, death in family, summer school, military deployment or relocation only) as long as it is requested in writing, with back-up documentation, and received in the Scout Service Center, 3020 53rd Street, Galveston, TX 77551-5917. A 15% processing fee will be applied to all refunds. Refund requests due to light weather issues, homesickness, schedule conflicts, misinterpretation of printed council policies and procedures or reasons other than those noted above will not warrant a refund. In addition, partial refunds will not be granted for partial camp/event stays. If a camp or event is forced to be canceled by the council, because of severe weather, or circumstances prior to the camp or event occurring, the council will reschedule the camp/event or initiate the refund process. All requests are due to the council office no later than 15 days after the close of the event. Refunds will be issued in the form of a check within 30 days after a formal decision has been made.
