The Scouting Experience - The Patrol Method - Five Part Series 2016
"The Scouting Experience"
Although "The Scouting Experience (TSE)" is a new approach to SM/ASM training here at Bay Area Council (BAC), it has decades of history at other councils. One of the developers of TSE at the Stanton Island Council is a 50-year BSA-veteran Rudy Lazides (former T603 SM in League City and currently an Assistant District Commissioner). Rudy is serving as the TSE Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) and Roger Boyer is serving as the SM (or course director).
TSE places the participants (i.e. adult leaders who wish to go the extra mile in SM/ASM training) into patrols of a Troop (i.e. T574, which coresponds to our Council's number in BSA). TSE covers the material offered by both the SM/ASM leader specific training as well as the Introductory Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS). It does not cover the Outdoor Webelos Leader Skills (OWLS) training (which is specific to Webelos and not required for SM/ASM training).
About
This will be a different offering of Scoutmaster/Assistant Scout Master training. Instead of doing it in two parts it will be done in FIVE SESSIONS with one of the sessions being a weekend campout for the IOLS portion of the training.
