SSBG Swing! NOVA Award 2019

The Swing! NOVA Award program will help you explore how engineering and simple machines affect your life each day. Levers are used in your daily life, to help you complete your chores in an easier, more efficient manner and they are even used for fun, like on the playground. This NOVA Award program will help you understand the devices used in your daily life, and even let you explore the complex devices used for commercial jobs and research. The Fishing belt loop/pin will teach you about the types of fish you can catch locally, the correct lures to use for different types of fish, and even how to prepare your fishing gear for a fishing trip.

Time: 8 am-5 pm

Occupancy: Minimum of 8 must register in order for the class to happen. Maximum of 24.

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for this NOVA Award.

What to bring:

  • SSBG Release Form
  • Lunch/water bottle
  • Rain gear
  • Sweatshirt/light coat
  • Pen and notebook
  • Sunscreen/ sunglasses
  • Closed toe shoes – No sandals
  • Scout uniform is not required but is encouraged…we want you to be comfortable. Pack & Troop t-shirts are perfect.
  • Completed prerequisites specific to the program you are attending if it applies.

Cancellation Policy
Refunds will only be granted to the original paying customer, whether it is the unit or individual. All unit refunds will be paid to the Committee Chairperson on record for that unit. All but 15% of an individual's fee is refundable, under certain circumstances (sickness, death in family, summer school, military deployment or relocation only) as long as it is requested in writing, with back-up documentation, and received in the Scout Service Center, 3020 53rd Street, Galveston, TX 77551-5917. Refund requests due to light weather issues, homesickness, and schedule conflicts, misinterpretation of printed council policies and procedures or reasons other than those noted above will not warrant a refund. In addition, partial refunds will not be granted for partial camp/event stays. If a camp or event is forced to be canceled by the council, because of severe weather, or circumstances prior to the camp or event occurring, the council will reschedule the camp/event or initiate the refund process. All requests are due to the council office 15 days prior to the start of the event. Refunds will be issued in the form of a check.
