Report to State 2022

"Agents of Change"

Join us for the 73rd annual Report to the State of Texas. All 18 councils in Texas are invited to participate. The method of participation is the formation of a delegation. Because of space limitations at the hotel and at the Capital, and time constraints, the size of each delegation is restricted to a maximum of 25 youth and adults including your council’s youth representative. His/her primary task is to deliver your council’s official report at the designated report location. Only Scout youth member delegates will be allowed on the floor of the House of Representatives due to space limitations. The other adults in your delegation will be able to sit in the gallery of the House of Representatives. Please understand this is a report to a state official, not necessarily the Governor. Delegates are youth only.

DATE    February 5, 2022

TIME: 7:30 am

LOCATION: Austin

PURPOSE: A report to Texas on Scouting’s achievements from each council in Texas.

COST: Each youth and each adult in your delegation pays a $40 delegate fee.

Costs continued: Your delegate fees are needed to keep this event successful for our current Scouts and for future generations of Scouts.

  • Each paid youth delegate will receive the hotel breakfast, commemorative RTS patch, and an electronic copy of the RTS Group photo.
  • Each paid adult will receive the hotel breakfast and commemorative RTS patch.
  • Digital official group photos (YOUTH DELEGATES ONLY) will be emailed to the delegation leader to distribute to the participants.
  • The delegation registration and payment must be provided to the Capitol Area Council by Monday, January 10, 2022 so that adequate time is allowed for last-minute event communication.

YOUR SPOKESMAN:

Your council youth representative will give your council’s service report at the Report to State Ceremony. The report must be concise (no more than 300 words or 1 minute, whichever is SHORTER!), but informative. Please select one or two items that have been an important service accomplishment in your council during the previous year. Good examples to report on include Scouting for Food drives and other community-oriented service projects. Human event stories are more important than large numerical figures. The emphasis of your report is the importance of Scouting and its impact on youth in your council rather than record-breaking figures or camping statistics.

To register a Youth delegate to address the Texas State Congress, please contact Charlie Tinsley at charlie.tinsley@scouting.org.
