Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

COVID-19 Policy (As of March 8, 2022)

Following the current CDC guidelines, the Bay Area Council COVID-19 Risk Management Committee has modified the council COVID-19 Protocols. Masks are now optional for all Scouting meetings, activities, and events - indoors and outdoors. Brazoria and Galveston Counties are listed as low to moderate risk zones by current data and a key driver for this policy modification.

Please note that optional means no one is required to wear a mask, unless required by the meeting location. All individuals who prefer to wear masks are encouraged to do so and will be supported as well.

We ask everyone to:

  • Continue getting your COVID-19 vaccinations, and if you contract the disease, you will have mild to no symptoms.
  • Respect everyone’s choice to wear a mask or not and support them.
  • Continue your awareness and social distancing to protect yourself and others.
  • Not attend meetings, activities, and events if you have any COVID-19 type symptoms.
  • Notify meeting leadership if you become COVID-19 positive after leaving a meeting, activity, or event, so other attendees can be notified as well.

While this is great news, we are continuing to monitor and track CDC data and local data. We will continue to update you on council policy as needed.

Thank you,

The Bay Area Council COVID-19 Risk Management Committee
